Replying to @steffydiaries How I measure my books for book rebinding! Measure the width & height of your book and add your overhang - I add 0.5cm to the top, bottom and opening edges. You will make your spine piece the same height as the cover pieces. For the spine, there are three options; keep your spine board the same width as the book, add the width of one piece of spine board to the measurement, or add the width of two pieces of board. I personally opt for one piece (0.2cm) as that plus the thickness of my fabric once bound creates a nice square edge!
