Penelope Update #4 She’s up… she’s up, she’s up, she’s up. Did I mention she’s up? Because she is. ❤️ Standing. Eating standing up. Going potty standing up. Then she rests… and gets back up again. Every single day, a little more progress. And every single day, I am in absolute awe of the fight in this tiny girl. We have gone from me holding her head up just so she could eat or drink… to her doing it all on her own. Let that sink in for a second. It’s hard not to celebrate… but I’m holding that balance. Because we’ve been here before. Because we know how quickly things can change. She still has a long road ahead… but with every step forward, her chances get better. So today… I’m taking the win. Today I’m saying thank you for another day. And tonight… maybe I’ll sleep just a little deeper. Maybe even close both eyes… instead of waking at every tiny sound she makes. And today, I’m also going to say this… If you are thinking about becoming a pig parent — please, please do your homework. Reach out to rescues. Ask questions. Question the answers. Research everything twice. Have the basics on hand- even something as simple as a thermometer can make all the difference. Learn what plants in your area are toxic. Create a space that is truly safe-inside and out. Because pigs are curious… and if they can get into something… they will. And sometimes… by the time you realize something is wrong… it’s already critical. Few survive what Penelope has gone through. Do everything you can to make sure yours never has to.
