Video Title / CaptionMore on my hot topic of the week: PROGRESSION!🔥 You hear me talk about the importance of a mind-body connection in order to *actually* engage your core. So how we order a workout matters! It’s a lot easier to find and activate your core when that part of your body is supported. That’s why I typically start out core strength workouts lying down on our backs and doing small activation exercises. Once we find these connections, then we can progress into less supported positions, and further challenge our core. But we need to EARN these progressions! This is also critical if you are just learning how to activate your core. So when I see trainers telling beginner clients (or even otherwise strong clients who can’t activate their core) to do planks…😡. They are doing those clients a disservice. I will never forget learning this in my Pilates teacher training, and it’s something I have carried with me for over a decade. While I don’t teach classical Pilates or strictly Pilates, when I am teaching core strength, this is a takeaway that is pretty unique to Pilates and why Pilates will be my first love ❤️ when it comes to strength and fitness.
