I prepared this all the night before and she slept in the fridge, then went in the oven at 7am for our 1pm dinner. In a small bowl mix 2 sticks softened salted butter, 3tbsp garlic powder, 3 heaping tablespoons minced garlic, 3tbsp smoked paprika, 2 tbs of a dry herb mixture(mine was rosemary, thyme, and lavender), 2tbsp oregano, 1tbsp sea salt, 1 tbsp cracked pepper, zest of 3 lemons. Whisk together. I used an electric hand mixer until well combined. Pull up the skin of the turkey, then put as much butter under the skin as you can. Rub the rest of the butter on the outside of the turkey. Inject with Injectable butter before placing in oven, cook for 45 minutes, then inject and baste every 30 minutes until turkey produces enough juice to start using it to baste and inject. Google said 15 minutes per pound, however our 20 pound girl only took a bit under 4 hours. Internal temp was at 168 in the breast. DELICIOUS. I know she got a bit dark, but don't be fooled.
