Video Title / Captionwe’re making grain spawn this time! πŸ„πŸŒΎ you’ll need: πŸ„ grains of your choice πŸ„ mycelium liquid culture πŸ„ syringe & 16ga needle πŸ„ pressure cooker πŸ„ 32oz wide mouth mason jars πŸ„ myco jar lids (see my other vid) πŸ„ 70% isopropyl alcohol πŸ„ *still air box (optional, mine is made from a plastic storage box) πŸ„ *splash of vinegar (optional, so pressure cooking doesnt leave water marks) *disclaimer: i’m an amateur hobbyist, hit me in the comments with any advice, questions, comments, concerns 😺 method used: 1. hydrate grains of your choice for 12-24 hours. we’re using oats in this vid but i usually prefer brown rice! 2. fill mason jars halfway with hydrated grains (so you can shake later) 3. screw lid on halfway (so steam can escape) & cover with aluminum foil (foil protects the filter from getting wet & lets jars cook evenly) 4. place jars in pressure cooker, add a splash of vinegar, & fill water at least halfway above jar. put lid on pressure cooker & turn heat on high. 5. once a steady stream of steam starts escaping, time for 10min and let steam escape. this lets pressure build up evenly during the cook. 6. attach pressure rocker & let pressure build to 15PSI. once pressure reaches 15PSI, time and cook for 90min. turn to medium heat. 7. let pressure release naturally after cook is finished (make sure to read your pressure cooker guide). once safe to open cooker, remove jars and let cool for 6-12 hours to room temp. 8. sterilize jars, still air box, liquid culture jar, grain spawn jar, & other materials! 9. spritz a bit of 70% iso on self healing injection ports of both jars. 10. attach needle to syringe & flame sterilize. draw 10cc of liquid culture. 11. flame sterilize needle again & inject fully into grains 12. place inoculated grains jar in a warm, dark place. check back in 2-3 weeks. 13. once jar is 50% colonised, shake and distribute mycelium. let sit again. 14. once jar is 100% colonised, it’s ready for bulk substrate!! πŸ₯³ #mycelium #myco #grainspawn #tek #mushrooms #liquidculture #inoculation #pftek #mycology
